Jamaica Implementation Trip
We are scheduled to return to the Naylor's Hill community in September for Phase I implementation of the roadway stabilization.  We are in great need of a CPR certified individual to serve as our Health Point Person.  If you are interested in this position, please contact us.

Independent Projects Program
EWB-Atlanta is pleased to announce the establishment of our new Independent Projects Program (IPP).  Due to rapid growth and increased administrative burdens, EWB-USA currently restricts each chapter to no more than 2 sanctioned projects at a time, and EWB-Atlanta has reached this limit.  The IPP will allow EWB-Atlanta to continue to pursue new international projects.  Individual members will be encouraged to partner with established NGOs, propose a potential project to EWB-Atlanta, and establish a project team.  All IPP projects will be conducted outside of official EWB-USA capacity, and will in no way be affiliated with EWB-USA.  More details will be provided during our July meeting.  Already have an idea for a project?  Let us know!

Crisis In Haiti

On January 13, Haiti was hit with a magnitude 7 earthquake with aftershocks recorded up to magnitude 6.  The death toll is over 150,000 with massive damage to the country's already crumbling and inadequate infrastructure.  What this means is that what little potable water, power, transportation, food, and medical services that existed prior to the quake are now essentially destroyed.  The previously precarious state of Haiti, which saw 3 major hurricanes in 2008, is now dire, and people will continue to die as a result of food and water shortages unless enough aid is rendered.

While EWB-Atlanta is not an emergency relief organization, we are asking for your assistance by donating any amount possible to our water supply project in an effort to mitigate the inevitable aftermath of this horrible situation.  Thanks to your generous donations so far we have raised approximately $30,000, which is half of the $60,000 we need to complete the water system that will supply the 3,000 residents of Los Palis.  For further details on this project, or to make a donation, please view our Haiti project page.  Remember, every little bit counts.  Thank you.

If you wish to directly participate in on-the-ground emergency relief efforts, please contact our partner HERO who is distributing medical supplies or FilterPure who is distributing their proprietary portable ceramic water filters.
